The night of Wesak – a night of meditation
A night of meditation from 31 May to 1 June 2026
On the grounds of Dharma Nature, Vieussan, Haut Languedoc

It is said that Buddha’s enlightenment took place on the night of the full moon in May. Every year, millions of people meditate on this night. This festival is called Wesak.
We also celebrate Wesak on our land near Vieussan, in the Hérault region. If you live nearby, please join us!
You can also participate in the opening speech via video link. This is an opportunity to gather a few meditators at your home and embark on a night of meditation. Or do it alone, for as long as possible into the night. Meditate, take a few breaks to drink a cup of herbal tea, meditate again… Time stretches out in a strange way, allowing us to experience unforgettable moments of great depth and to enjoy a dense and peaceful atmosphere. Many of those who were online in 2024 told me they had a wonderful and fruitful time!
This night of meditation, in addition to being symbolic, allows us to surpass ourselves and, as a result, take a leap forward in our practice. If you do it, you will confirm this without a doubt. So, I really recommend that you take up the challenge!

I didn’t have any particular expectations before coming to Wesak, as it was my first experience of this kind. I hadn’t really planned anything, I just thought I would meditate for two hours at most, then probably go to bed…
However, that’s not how it turned out at all!
As soon as we began meditating, I felt a surge of energy and, above all, a clear awareness of each moment. This lasted for a long time; there were very few distracting thoughts, just the feeling of being present.
Suddenly, I felt an irresistible urge to go and look at the moon. It was resplendent, then disappeared almost as quickly as it had appeared.
I thought to myself that I was lucky to have come at the right time to enjoy its light.
I then settled down for a second phase of meditation. I had never meditated for so long before, but time seemed almost non-existent during that night, no doubt because I knew that there was no real end to it, except for the dawn, which arrives gently and almost imperceptibly.
During this second phase, I felt intense pain in my shoulder. I observed it closely and in detail, and it disappeared completely and suddenly!
I wondered whether I should stay and meditate, and I noticed that many people were still by my side. Their presence and determination supported me and gave me the energy I needed to continue.
Finally, during the third phase (for me, there were three very distinct phases during that night), sleep overtook me. I tried to fight it a little, then let myself drift off. When I woke up, it was dawn, so I went back to my tent.
After a few days, I remember Wesak as an imaginary moment, something magical, where one could access worlds that are usually inaccessible, a keen perception, a pure consciousness.
Thank you for this wonderful moment!
